Course Title

English B1 Conversational Intensive microcourse

• 40 academic hours of contact learning (10 study days)

• 20 academic hours of independent study

• Total workload: 60 academic hours

Target Group

Adult learners with at least A2-level English proficiency who wish to develop their B1 level English skills.

Entry Requirements

• English proficiency at least at A2 level

• motivation to participate in active, communication-focused learning

Course Objective

To develop learners’ English language communication skills at B1 level, with a focus on practical everyday communication in a variety of social and professional contexts.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the learner can:

1. understand the main ideas of authentic English-language texts, videos, and discussions on a range of contemporary topics;
2. use topic-related vocabulary, common expressions, and functional language appropriately in spoken communication;
3. express and justify opinions, participate in discussions, and interact effectively in role-play activities;
4. communicate with greater fluency, confidence, and improved pronunciation in everyday and professional situations;
5. prepare and deliver a short oral presentation and respond to questions from the audience.

Course Content

Each day will have conversation lessons on unique topics we read/watch authentic media and look at vocabulary, idioms, collocations, roleplay and discuss and pronunciation practice. Content subject to change at teachers discretion to fit needs of group

Introduction to the exam, choose a topic or be assigned a topic, you can submit an idea to me for approval. Must submit to me by next Thursday morning/ a topic will be assigned by the second Tuesday

Learning Environment

The course takes place in a classroom equipped with presentation technology and learning materials. Digital tools may be used where necessary.

Materials prepared by the instructor, articles, videos, and practical worksheets.

Assessment

Assessment is non-graded (pass/fail).

The learner achieves a positive result if they:

• actively participate in lessons;

• complete the final oral presentation on an assigned or approved topic.

Completion Requirements

• attendance of at least 70% of contact sessions;

• successful completion and delivery of the final oral presentation.

Certificate Issued

Certificate (Certificate of Achievement) — issued to learners who have met the completion requirements and achieved the learning outcomes.

Statement of Participation — issued to learners who have participated in the course but have not met all completion requirements or demonstrated achievement of the learning outcomes.

Curriculum Flexibility

Content is subject to change at the teacher’s discretion in order to meet the needs of the group.
